Have you ever called to order a taxi and spoken with someone who didn't either have a strange accent you couldn't understand or talk so fast and sounded so tense that you thought their brain might explode?

Because I've used a taxi three times...twice, the person talked really fast, the third time the person had a really weird accent that I couldn't understand and despite being from the area, had really no clue where my university was.

Makes me dislike ordering a taxi...

A life long friend of mine drives cab, so I call him directly, or one of his friends.

A few weeks ago my friends got into three separate cabs in groups of 3/4 to take them to a hotel, but none of the drivers knew where the hotel was because it was new. 2 finally got there and agreed to knock off a few pounds as it was their fault it took so long but the last group refused to pay full price (Over £10 when it should have been about £6) so the cab drive locked the doors, so they called police, ended up at a police station and told the police about it and the police put them into a taxi that knew were it was going. They all got really scared when he locked the doors and refused to let them go o_O

Holy...shit...

Did they have to pay the other driver? Was he charged with anything? Was anyone?

They didn't pay him, they only payed the guy who actually got to the hotel, and that was about £6 as it should have been....They don't know if he was charged, the police let them go and kept the guy so he was probably fined/reported to his company.

We don't have a lot of taxi's where I'm from...I've never used one

I never order a taxi, I just wait for one to come. There's at least one every 2 minutes. Taxi drivers are the most talkative people ever, and they never cease to amaze me with how well they know the streets.

I don't really take taxis, the cab drivers where I live are SO sketch, they scare me. I never take a cab alone.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Of all the taxi drivers I've had, I've liked one, maybe two.

The first one I took told me about how he has to lock his money up in a metal box and them put carpet over it so no one sees it and it actually looked pretty convincing. I wouldn't be surprised if that dude was carrying a gun on him somewhere, he was ready for anything.

Another taxi driver played heavy metal music (whatever he was playing wasn't that bad actually) and talked about how he wanted to move into town with his wife, who wanted to stay in the city, and about how he used to work at this one factory we passed by, etc. He was pretty cool.

But then I had one who had a strange accent and listened to the same fucking song the whole way to my school. God, he drove me fucking nuts. It was in another language...reminds me of Apu from The Simpsons... Anyways, I think the singers were just singing the same thing over and over again because I could recognize it. It was like, "WTF? Deja vu..." and this song continued nonstop like that, the same thing over and over again, for the entire ride. We're talking 10+ minutes.

Then, he couldn't find the school and assumed I should know how to get there. Dude, I'm a transfer, I'm not from the area...you are...how do you explain that?
