damn tourists... jk. well. im from NJ/NYC soo iv got some ideas on what to do. eat at ollies (amazing gourmet chinease food reasonably priced) go to a pizza parlor in brooklyn or manhatten. swim in columbia universitys historic swiming pool with statues of krackins in it, go to the bronx or centeral park zoo, go to grays papya to get the best hot dogs in the world, go to spanish harlem and look around, go see a play on broadway, then walk about 2 block to juniors cheesecake for THE best cheesecake ever, go to the knitting factory to see a concert, tour the intrepid, see the sailors pull into port, go have a day of fun and games at chelsea piers, go see the statue of liberity, go to little italy and china town, and deff go see something at carnigee hall.

Hmm. I grew up in Washington, D.C. Can't say much about New York, though.

Go to the Smithsonian museums in DC. I'd especially recommend the National Air and Space Museum and the National Musuem of American History (I think it's re-opened by now, but I'm not sure), and the National Museum of Natural History. Or, if you like art, there's the National Gallery of Art and the National Portrait Gallery. Go to the Capitol and the White House of course, and the Library of Congress. You could go to the Memorials as well. There's many scattered around the city. If you have time, go to Arlington Cemetery or take a tour of the Pentagon (by reservation only).

Other than the famous government-y places, DC is quite dull. It has a notoriously high crime rate and most of the city is one big slum.

Yeah you def need more than one day for NYC

I have a week so that should be ok.

That's great.

We only had a day because we went on a bus that dropped us off sometime before lunch and then picked us back up around 10:00 or 11:00 I think. My Dad didn't want to drive it and we're not really all that close to any airports. That and we're from the country...half of us are happy there, half of us aspire to see something else, but none of us can navigate our way around the city.

Well now that it's Christmas time, Rockefeller Center.. that's where the giant tree is with the beautiful ice skating rink and what not.

Times Square has a million things in it.
Empire State Building
Central Park
Statue of Liberty
Ground Zero

Tons of good food places, I really like Madame Tussauds..wax museum. I just went there, the picture of me and Eli Manning is from there.

This is a really good list, similar to the one we had when we went a few years ago. Keep in mind though that it took us about 2 hours to get through the Empire State Building. And since we were there for just a day, most of that other stuff got left out. We saw Rockefeller Center too but I think that's about it.

But when you said you wanted to see NY, you did mean NYC right?

EDIT: Oh yeah, and Times Square, we that too and it was awesome.

yeah. NYC. I can't wait!

I was in New York a few weeks ago. Times Square was lovely. But there wasn't really anything amazing if I am being honest.

New York City?
Go to Times Square. Go see something on Broadway. New York City is my favorite place. I want to live there someday.
And Washington DC?
I went to Arlington National Cemetery....
OH! Go to Ford's Theatre!
And obviously the White House.
