Is this just human nature?

Using livewire as an example do you find that if somebody puts forward an argument no matter how well researched or supported if you disagree you instantly question their intelligence?

This can also been seen else ware, in schools, media, governments.

I have been working hard at this lately to take peoples arguments and listen and try to see why they believe as they do. Its not easy but I am learning more by doing this.

But then again you might not agree and that would mean that I am stupid.

That's not true, or at least most of those who say that don't have any argument of their own.

It is much more fun to explain why someone is wrong, and then link that to them being stupid.
