I just got out of a 2 year relationship with a great girl. I have a lot on my mind but am away from home and don't have many people to just talk to.  A girl I used to date lives near me and she used to be my best friend.  BUT she's still my ex... Is there any way to contact her/talk to her without me sounding like a douchbag on the rebound looking for something?  I have no intention of resparking anything... I just need someone to talk to..

Depends on if she also feels like it's a completely platonic friendship and has no hard feelings. I would definitely help out an ex who needed someone to talk to. So long as it wasn't recent, didn't end on bad terms, and neither of us had any feelings in that way.

Just tell her that you don't have anyone near you to talk to, and since you guys used to be really great friends was wondering if she would lend you an ear, or something like that.

Maybe send her an email asking how she's been...just try having a casual conversation with her.
