Honestly, does LW even realize how much server space they will save if instead of deleting all messages beyond the limit, they just deleted them as it got full? When you have 25 messages, everything stays, but the 26th one you receive, but it deletes the oldest one in your inbox thats not saved. Honestly that would save so much space it'd be mind-boggling... well maybe not that much, but the point is still made.
well no shit, you think the current system is the first thing he thought of? some people want to read their old messages and delete ones in the middle

Hence the saved messages feature, if there's a message you want to re-read later, save it, but obviously a message isn't that important if you can't read it before 25 more come.
Perhaps if space was an issue they'd consider recoding all that shit. But, as it appears to not be, why bother. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

It doesn't have to be an issue of not having enough space, but everything would run quicker, less chance of freezing up, and I understand where you're coming from, of not to change something that works, but if you can prevent it from breaking by streamlining the process, it doesn't hurt.
