it's great that you are getting rid of the old messages, ect. Ive noticed an increase of speed myself...

You should also try to get rid of junk accounts, ie the accounts of people who never posted anything, or have remained inactive for a long time. I have come accross a lot of these accounts. If your server is indexed, by removing these accounts, it should, in theory, help increase the speed of the next indexing.

If they made their account in 2003, 2004, 2005, or 2006 and were only active for less than 5 days.

                               or

If the last time they were active was in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005....

then they probably aren't coming back.

Would do fuck all for server space tbh. They are cleared out of big shite after 60 days of no activity.

I thought I heard once that this actually would free up very little space on the server....

But I might be imagining things.

Yarly.

Especially the members who are perma-banned.

DEFINITELY not the members who were perma banned.

If there were some system to collect accounts to recycle, they would have to be ONLY accounts that never posted and never gained popularity. If we were to delete the membername "Anti Christ", someone would obviously make it again for lols.

If any old accounts were recycled, (which david doesn't want to do) they would be accounts that never posted and were never active.

Yeah, alright, nvm.

A bunch of really good usernames are taken by fags who joined and have been active for 1 day.

true. I've seen a bunch of accounts that are not even used :(
Kankalicious Posted at 10:08 pm on Dec. 18, 2008
I was thinking this earlier, actually.
Vintorez Posted at 10:07 pm on Dec. 18, 2008
yeah. like an account that was created and only active for one day back in 2004. seems rather wasteful
