I was taking a shower, and I sat down because I was feeling dizzy, then I sort of just curled up and put my head up on my knees and wrapped my arms around them, and when it was completely dark I started having a replay of something that happened 8 years ago, it was one of the first times my step-dad ever beat me up, it was so real, I felt like I was a kid again, and I could feel EVERYTHING, and I started freaking out and crying like I did when I was a little kid. Eventually I heard a knock on the door and my mom was asking if I was ok, because I had been mumbling and sobbing.

This has happened when I've been falling asleep, but never when I was completely awake. What the hell just happened to me? I never wanted to live through that again, I've been trying so hard to forget, but every other month or so, I'll have an episode like this when I'm falling asleep. What should I do?

It's okay, it's painful but it'll fade with time. It's the same as the ones that happen when you are about to sleep, so don't worry about this being any different, k?

Talking about it or writing it out might help you deal with it a little better, but you don't have to and it will fade with time. Don't try too hard to "push it away" though, just try to accept those feelings and let it happen, and let it go. Pushing it away too much might be stressing yourself out unintentionally and provoking these memory trips. Good luck.

Calm down, it may only be once. For now just forget about it or you might want to tell your mom or someone.
