I feel so bad for my friend, He has such a shitty life. He is one of my best friends, and he gets blamed for EVERYTHING. Eventhough he is a fuck up, its his crack whore moms fault! His dad is in jail, his mom is a crack head, so he lives with him grandma, but he was in jail over halloween because he was selling drugs. and he just got in trouble today for trying to sell a stolen ipod (which it kinda funny) But he's only 13 and shouldnt have to bare everything because of his fuckup parents. He's a little whore though, and completely what most people would call a "bad iunfluence" and I used to stay away from people like that, but once I became so close to this kid, I realized how sad it is, and how much they get blamed, even for things that arent their fault...
Man I could punch his mom right now! grr.

You're right, it's environment and genetics, but, the kid lives with his grandma, so it's obviously not environment, and I would be so quick to point my finger at genetics.

And the only way a person would join a religion is by their environment. For all you know the world was created, and is still being monitored by a giant jellyfish sat on the moon. But because society hasn't discovered this, nobody acknowledges it as a religion and follows it.

religion?
Drinkingjam Posted at 3:08 am on Nov. 19, 2008
I'm not just talking about this specific example. Tell me something other than environment and biology that creates a person's brain so they're able to make decisions.

Look, dude, like I said before, before the post got deleted -- we pay for the sins of our fathers, we do not recreate them.  He is doing everything he is by his own volition.  There is no one to blame but himself.
Drinkingjam Posted at 3:02 am on Nov. 19, 2008
The only two things that create a person are genetics and environment. If you were in a different society, you wouldn't hold the same views that you do now. Unless there is another factor that creates a person?

I don't see how his mistakes can be blamed on his mom.  He should know better than to make the decisions he has.  To try to put the blame on someone else is completely irresponsible.  Your friend made the decisions he has on his own, no one else told him to do them.  Stop defending him because you think it's someone else's fault.  It's not -- it's his own.

be honest though, you've never actually gotten to know anybody like that

My ex-girlfriend's situation was EXACTLY the same.  Exactly.  She was fine.  She was depressed, yeah, but she wasn't dealing drugs, sleeping with everyone she met, selling stolen items, etc.

If you were in his shoes, with his genetics and his upbringing, you'd be exactly the same.

Nature vs. Nurture?

Honestly, I agree with Tyrone. You can't blame your mistakes on your background etc, or there'd be a hella lot more rapists and such going around. Plenty of people have the ability to rise above their upbringing.

Waa! Waa! Waa! Oh poor little me, it's not my fault that I commit crimes. It's my poor homelife, it's everybody else's fault and anything other than the fact that I choose to do these things. How dare people say it's my fault that I steal other people's property or sell drugs. Yeah, I know; I see the responses now. Oh, he has to survive somehow! Oh you don't know him, his crack head mother makes him do things. Blah, blah, blah. You make your own choices in life, or you cry like a little bitch and whine about how it's not your fault. If you're going to put on your big boy pants in this world and play with the big dogs, don't cry when you get bit in the ass.
