I made friends with a group of people on my course at Uni, and we've known each other since September, but only really started talking towards the end of October. I think the reason we got on so well, is because we were all strangers to one another. Unfortunately though, time has passed, and we know each other better (although I still act pretty shy which is normal for me). It's just small things they do which get on nerves, like go on about how much work I do...I just want a first! Also, they keep pushing me to speak more in class, and it makes me feel worse. When I do speak during class, they just shoot me down. It's weird.

In comparison, I think of my friends back home, and although some of them weren't perfect (who is?), they seem that way compared to these 'new' people. I know I shouldn't think like that, but it's just the way I feel sometimes.

I know I should be talking to them about this, but I'll feel stupid brining it up and I doubt they'd change. I guess I should distance myself.

Anyone else having similar problems?

sort of, and that is exactly what i did, i started distancing myself from them and slowly hang out with other people.  Once they saw me with another group of kids they backed off.  However, if i ever need someone to sit next to they are still like over here over here! so i always have them if i need them.
