my dad is alcoholic. he has anger issues. and probably even more things that i don't know about. sometimes he really scares me. when he's not drunk he gives everyone the "silent treatment". it's hard to explain...i just don't what to do anymore....i used to...no still kinda do have nightmares where he would kill me and my sisters and mother. in real life he has never laid a hand on me.
and yes my mom is extremely aware about all this...but she cant do anything...he refuses to get help
ideas???
are any of your dad's out there like this???
is anybody able to help...with anything????

when i was younger and my parents were still together, my dad used to be like that. he would disappeared every weekend and we wont see him til sunday nite and my parent fought constantly.

what actually did help for us when my parents filed for divorced. my dad was so afraid of losing contact with my brother and i so he got help and now 12yrs later he hasnt a single drink.

the only thing i could tell you is that your dad isnt going to change until he really hits rock bottom. alcoholism is a disease and its hard to get help for someone who doesnt recognize they have a problem. Your mother should be the one to put a stop before anything get worse. her priority should be you and your sister and yalls safety. try really talking to her make her understand how you feel and how much it bothers you.

best of luck!

my dads an alcoholic and it took everything to get him help. he refused and there were a lot of ugly nights, but our family forced him. hes doing better - you need to talk to him while hes sober. good luck

well my dad used to be an alcoholic, and has anger issues but over the years I've just grown to hate him for hurting us but now try not to let him bother me, I just walk out when he gets dumb

Talk to your family about it. He is obviously suffering some sort of emotional pain if he has turned to drinking for comfort.

Talk to your mother or some other sort of trusted adult. Getting in contact with a counselor could also help you out with the nightmares. My dad isn't like that but I can relate in ways, and I am also effected personally by alcoholism.

My dad is an alcoholic as well. He has major anger issues and often beats me when drunk. I see him as little as I can.
