I'm a guy, and one of my best friends is a girl. She's definitely one of the most beautiful girls I've ever seen, but she feels like she's ugly and unattractive.

I found out that when she was in school before she moved here there was a group of guys who picked on her, saying she looked ugly and like a boy, taking bets on whether or not she had a penis, and other really shitty things like that. Even though it was years ago, it's always stuck with her.

It makes me really sad that a couple of assholes had such a negative affect on her. She always says she's plain or ugly, and she get's really down about it sometimes. I wish I could show her that everyone else sees her as a really beautiful and gorgeous person. My other best friend is also a girl, and she would always mention how jealous she was that she wasn't "as beautiful as her". (I think they're both absolutely gorgeous.)

What can I do to help her see how beautiful she is and realize that those assholes were full of shit?

She kind of needs to find it out for herself. I know what you may be going through and it's difficult to convince someone of something when they are dead set against it. Just don't forget to let her know that she's beautiful and if she is beautiful someone, and it can't be you, will ask her out. It's more or less that she wants proof I suppose, and being asked out or hit on is a pretty good indicater. Adding to it, one comment or one situation from a persons past can really alter how they feel about themselves, and she'll need your support in getting over what they said, and pretty much that's solved with time, and gentle reminders that she isn't ugly, and that they were just douches.

its really hard trying to convince someone they're attractive when they have such low-self esteem and dont like themselves. i dont thing theres anything anyone can say or do its really up to them to change their opionion about themselves. you should just try to be the best friend you can be to her.

Do you have any feelings for her past friendship?
If you do tell her that you feel for attractive girls, then hit on her telling her how lovely she is, and if she's flattered try asking her out.
Also you shouldn't have posted anonymous, then you should have posted a picture of her for us to see her.

Just tell her she's beautiful. But really, I take her being truly happy to believe you. It took until I got on anti-depressants for me to believe my boyfriend.

It's something they really just have to over come on their own. You can keep telling them how beautiful they are, but it'll only helop so much.
