Ok so my father is a diabetic & he used to drink a lot & now he needs a kidney transplant. My parents are still married but seperated even though they both live under the same roof but they aren't in love like before. & my mother offered to test herself to give him a kidney.

My brother was the first to test himself but the doctors were like your too young(22), & me i didn't offer to test myself, & my half sister is not compatible or w.e.

I don't want my mom to give her kidney away though b/c she is the only one working & bringing money to the house b/c my dad can't really work much & he has dialysis & crap. I started working again too so im going to be a task off my moms mind to deal with my senior year upcoming events & im going to try to help her pays some things.

But another reason i don't want her to donate her kidney is b/c i don't think she's in that good of health either. Like she has carpal tunnel syndrome on her hand (she looses circulation on the hand) & her feet always hurt.  So like, i don't want my mother to donate her kidney & be in more pain.

Like my dad also might start drinking again & fuck up the kidney or the diabetis might just fuck it up itself & then it would be like a waste. I just don't want to have two parents fucked up in health.

So my question is, do any of you people know of anyone whose donated or recieved a kidney & how the process went?

I know someone who donated their kidney to another family member, and it was fine. As long as the doctor says your mom is healthy enough to donate a kidney, you should encourage her to do it for your dad. She'll be fine with a single kidney. I only have one, and it's no big deal; no problems or limits, really. :]
