So I had severe numbing/pains in my hand for about 2 years now, it has effected me during my sleep and my job, my hands would go numb and feel extremely painful until I loose grip in my hands.

When I first checked it out with my doctor a while ago now he simply reckoned it was a trapped nerve which would simply work itself out.

I went today just to tell him that after nearly 2 years it hasn't gone away, in his opinion I have Bilateral Carpal tunnel syndrome which simply means my median nerve is compressed at the wrist in both hands, which can cause pain, paresthesias, and muscle weakness.

I'm getting referred to a hospital for further diagnosis and then possibly localized steroid injections or surgery.

Lovely.

Ouch, well I hope it all goes well. I have carpal tunnel but it seems to come then go every few weeks so I guess I lucked out there.

It's been a while since I spoke to you Meri.
Mine started like that but as time has progressed its become more persistent

Wow. That..sucks.

...I don't think LW is helping.

It doesn't actually bother me whilst typing, just when I'm sleeping or grasping something for extended periods of time.

For example using a paint brush/hammer at work can often have painful consequences.
During the night I often wake up with both or one of my hands numb and in pain. I have to then sit up for a few mins and then I feel okay and go back to sleep.

Then I may repeat that several times during the night.
