three words to summarize the atkins diet.
What a failure!
The guy who made the diet up is dead and died from a heart attack himself which is funny.  I laugh when I see these "fad diets" with ridiculous claims.
Eat healthy people and be senisble. God bless all of you. :)

im a vegetarian and i've lost a few pounds since i stopped eating meat... that's not why i'm doing it, but still

and actually, these fad diets DO work, if you actually bothered to go on one and stick to it properly

Your realize that being on a diet your whole life is ridiclous and rather hard to do. The diet is not the long term solution. Healthy habbits and healthy food choices is the solution to the problem. Would you want to be on a grapfruit or a lemonade diet your entire life?! be reasonable here before you try a counterargument. That being said good luck on your vegeterian lifestyle. :)

Atkins isn't a long term diet thing, though. and you can lose weight with it, and return to a somewhat usual diet and not gain any weight back.

Actually, the Atkins diet does work. Whilst you are still on it. It does what it says, helps you to lose weight, but it nowhere says it will make you a healthy person.

Trouble is once you get off it you put all the weight back on.

Mate listen if you eat healthy and exercise and have a regime you will not need a diet and be healthy! We should be teaching kids and telling adults to do this instead of going on diets which are temporary solutions and can be very risky. Healthy habbits and choices for life is what people need to be taught and what people should do.

That's if you come straight off of it.

People have done the Atkins diet, lost a large amount of weight and then slowly come off of it again to remain the weight they've got to.

It's not like the Atkins diet doesn't work. It's just a diet you have to properly follow and stay on if you want to keep your weight off, unless you plan on exercising and eating properly after going off of it.

And, honestly, not all heart attacks are related to things like that.
