What does it take for a cut to wind you up in the ER?

princess timz Posted at 11:58 am on Nov. 19, 2008

Joep0113 Posted at 11:57 am on Nov. 19, 2008
Its all about location location location

Too big for you to stop the bleeding or if you think it will become infected.

If it hit a nerve, if it won't stop bleeding, if your hand becomes numb, or you feel faint.
churnfulkiler Posted at 11:52 am on Nov. 19, 2008
the size and amount of blood really dont matter. as long as it is deep enough or cut severly enough to the point where u cannot get the bleeding to stop then you should go to the er.
Chiefette Posted at 11:51 am on Nov. 19, 2008
It isn't the depth, it's the type of cut.  If it has been more than 24 hours, don't bother going for stitches.  If you needed it cleaned or need a tetanus shot go.

a big fuckin' cut.

do any of us look like we've completed the mcats, or have a degree? or even doctorate?

it's funny how you say doctorate like it's a low degree lol

but yeah if it's life threatening and an emergency and the bleeding needs to stop immediately

dreamweaver Posted at 11:50 am on Nov. 19, 2008
If you can't get it to stop bleeding, GO. If it looks like it won't heal right, GO.

Not only you should be interested in whether or not you need stitches, but you need to think about the infection as well.

I'd call 911 for a paper cut.

No more getting warned for me.
