Viruses don't judge and they can be transmitted with one sexual act....it's like saying you can't get pregnant the first time.   I also forgot to add earlier that while a condom will lower the risks of getting Herpes, it does not - even if it stays intact - fully protect people from herpes, or HPV either, simply because IF (in Herpes, aka HSV, case) viral shedding can occur on parts of the skin not protected by a condom. The virus - if you contracted it - doesn't care one way or another, so you have to deal with reality. Here's a page of info on Herpes. http://www.smart2ask.org/popups/Herpes.htm You should also be concerned about other *possible* STDs that are detectable easily or immediately. And yes, HPV is a different - and very common virus- but you need to be concerned about both. You should also, just for your peace of mind, get an HIV test in 3 months, and to be 100% sure, in 6 months. Or just wait the 6 months. I'm not suggesting you are at any higher risk of HIV but it's a disease that symptoms don't appear for, usually, about 10 years after exposure.So it's best to be certain. http://www.smart2ask.org/STD.htm has info on several common STDs.
