Hello.

I'm writing an argumentative research paper and it needs to be about 12 pages long. I have only three weeks to get the final draft done and turned it. I need opinions on this topic to include in my paper.

Is it healthier / better to be vegan / vegetarian, or is meat & dairy eating essential for humans? What do you think? Or do you not have a strong opinion on the subject?

REMEMBER THIS IS NOT ON PERSONAL PREFERENCE, BUT AN OPINION ON THE MATTER. Thanks.

Please vote, and if you want, argue this as well!

Thanks.

vegans are causing global warming.. they eat our plants which we need to filter out the CO2 thats in our air.. if the vegans would eat an animal they would help reduce the amount of pollution in our ecosystem that animal cause with their "gases" .. EAT MEAT SLOW DOWN GLOBAL WARMING!!
Eat meat and become fat like the rest of America. Don't eat veggies and become fat like the rest of America. Hm... yeah, I don't think I like either one of those options.

You idiots and your global warming and misconceptions and misinterpretations. Idiots, idiots, idiots.

WTF? Eating meat doesn't make you fat. Eating too much will make you fat.

If you turned vegan, you would probably lose alot of weight. I know alot of people who were vegan/vegetarian and were thin and healthy. Without meat, it would be a lot easier to be thin since you're not ingesting all that fat and all that nasty shit they feed the animals.

Meat lovers are usually pretty big anyway... just look at them.

i know it sounds weird, but i do know some really fat vegitarians. so by saying that meat has a direct relationship with how fat you are would be false.

I was NOT generalizing because saying ALL vegans are thin would be a false statement just like saying ALL meat eaters are fat. But MAJORITY are this way.

Everything you need that's in meat and dairy is also found elsewhere--except for a form of the B vitamin, that is the only thing you can't find elsewhere... which is why we have supplements. So by being vegan you do not have to take two dozen supplements a day... that's false!

Meat and dairy are an essential part of the human body, with out them well you're screwing up your body.

Sure you can take supplements but its not exactly the real thing.

We are the only animals who still drink milk (and eat dairy products!) as grown-ups. No other animal does this. Dairy is not essential for adults, only at the very beginning of the life stage. When infants are fed milk, they grow intensely. Why do you think that is? Dairy is fattening and will make you grow. DUH. Just like they tell you in the milk commercials--milk is essential for growth... no shit, and then you get fat.

How awkward.

...it's still better for the environment...

Not really. The amount of energy needed to make a large number of vegan products, namely soy, tofu, and vitamin supplements, is fairly high. And the majority of power comes from coal factories. So supporting high energy requirement foods is supporting high energy usage, and thus, high pollution production.

Buuut. What if your not vegan? If I'm just vegetarian.
Maybe it's different in the states? I dunno, here it always says it's better for the environment to vegetarian. Because of the cow flatulence and transport etc.
I think it's different in NZ. We have very little coal usage. Most factories are quite environmentally friendly.

I dun wanna fight or anything.
just saying what i thought i knew...

I am vegan, and I do make sure to get all my nutrients (I take a multivitamin with extra B12, omega3s, and calcium).  I eat tofu/seitan/etc every day, fruits every day, salad every day.  Haven't touched junk food, energy drinks, etc in years.  I'd reccomend checking out PETA or Matthew Lush's info on veganism, they have got it down well.

I'm vegetarian but not vegan. We actually DON'T need meat. Originally humans didn't eat it. Or atleast not very much. You can get all the nutrients/supplements you need without meat as long as you're aware of it.

PLUS.   being a vegetarian is way way way better for the environment. better than riding a bike to work every day etc.

Humans, and early hominids, have been scavengers for over 6 million years, with a decent percentage of their diet being meat. So that's a false statement.

By the way, if any animal causes pollution, we would be on top of the list. Besides, it's now being said that humans, after all, really might not have anything to do with global warming at all. So shut your face.

Epic fail. You ever wonder why you have an appendix?
