Chances are that she will check you out down there to make sure you dont have an infection, tumor, or polyp the medication may affect.

Well, unless you knew it was going to be a pelvic exam, there probably wont be one. especially if you made the appointment to get on birth control, that usually doesn't require an exam. but if you do get the exam, it's pretty painful... so listen to them when they tell you to relax. If you're not a virgin, then it prob wont hurt too much, but it will be uncomfortable.

She's going to put your legs in stirrups and check out your vagina. Just to make sure there's nothing odd going on in there. It's really not awkward once it's all started. It's completely natural. I think of it this way: Any doctor is MORE THAN HAPPY to look at a clean vagina rather than a nasty one. Besides, this is what they went to school for 8 years for. They know what's coming, don't feel nervous or anxious. They probably look at 20 vaginas a day. And some of them are probably infested with STDs. Yours is clean, I'm sure. You'll be fine. Trust me.

Have you ever had sex? Are you 18 or older? If no to either, chances are you will not need a pelvic exam, or shouldn't. Assuming you don't need a pelvic exam, you won't need to inform the doctor about you maybe being on your period, but if they say you'll have one then I'd inform them. I'm not sure if they still do a pelvic regardless, my guess is not really. And if they don't do the pelvic, they'll ask you questions and talk to you about it to help decide what type of birth control to put you on. I would also talk to them about your acne medication, because if it's an antibiotic (which it probably is), antibiotics can often interfere with birth control.

Unless you've had sex, she will not examine you. For the most part.
