There can only be two reasons: 1 I have be beginnings of a sinus infection, in which case I should take a sudafed. 2 I have a headache from not sleeping very well, and allergies, in which case I should take my allergy medication. should I play it safe and take the sudafed?

Yes. I get a runny/stuffy nose and a horrible headache, puffy eyes, etc. Usually when it's in the back of my neck, it's a sinus-related problem.
