It does not mean it is infected.

My nipple piercings both had dried lymph (this is what the crust is) on them for the entirety of their healing. It is part of the healing process for the piercing, an open wound, to seep out lymph as it forms new skin within the open tunnel. It is a necessary process of all wounds, you just notice it more with piercings because you are not actively trying to close the wound and it has somewhere to stick (the jewelry).

Use a warm sea salt solution and a shotglass, place your nipple in the glass and hold the solution on it for a few minutes. This will loosen the dried lymph, and help speed up the healing process while killing any bacteria within. Take a q-tip and very gently remove the lymph from around the piercing, drop a little bit of FRESH sea salt solution onto the piercing, allow it to air dry. Do this at least once a day, and use the solution overall at least twice a day.

The dried lymph should begin forming less and less over the next few weeks.

Does it look angry or is it just crust and nothing else?
