I used to drink a lot of soda. Not anymore. My mom was buying two 24 packs of soda everyday, which 5 of us drink soda, so that tells ya how much we went through. She still buys a lot, but now I don't drink it, I drink lemonade and water.

ok umm WOW, i have diabetes AND guess what genius!!?! I HATE SODA. so go suck on it. you can only get a certain kind of diabetes from too much sugar, type 2, and they cant even prove that causes it. ITS GENETICS DUMBASS. get it right. and dont write about hings and assume things you dont know anything about.
do you really have to be mean??? |

My high school removed pop machines after I graduated, though I suspect it had more to do with funding than morality. Personally, I think kids should be able to buy a delicious tasty beverage if they so choose.

I read a book by this guy named Michael Pollin called In Defense Of Food and it's all about the evils of western eating and growing habits-- one of the WORST things for a human is high fructose corn syrup. it's the equivalent of crack to the body. Kids and teens shouldn't drink soda or even eat sugar-- It is not physically or mentally good for you! I know I've cut it out. I don't even drink fruit juice unless it's fresh squeezed anymore cause it's not that much better.

I agree with the initiative 100% but I wish something could be done to improve parenting. Obviously the whole issue is ridiculously complex as it deals with human interaction but I strongly fear that as a society we are compromising to the extent of neglecting the role of parenting. The government and education establisments can only do so much on the macro plane without active engagement on the individual scene.

My school doesn't even sell soda. The school district made this wellness policy last year in response to the district finally realizing the obesity crisis. So in 7th grade I sold candy bars to raise money for the music department. Now I sell citrus. The school has gotten rid of soda as well, but ironically the school still sells fattening government food at lunch. Instead of having Phys Ed every other day throughout the 7 day rotation during one marking period, it's during two. But it's good, I like Phys Ed class.
