He has the classic signs, for those of you who don't know, here is a link: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/31561/separation_anxiety_in_cats.html My boyfriend says when I leave, my kitten claws at the door and won't move away from the door until I do come home. I feel horrid because I don't want him to become ill from this. Anyone have suggestions? My dog is kind of like that. I'm sure you have a routine before you leave the house (grab the keys, put on your coat, turn off the TV, etc.), and your cat recognizes this and probably immediately starts freaking out. What you need to do, is practice the routine. Get your cat in the room and get your coat and everything together and go out the door. Then, come right back in. Do it several times, staying outside longer each time. Your cat will eventually realize that you DO come back everytime you go out the door, and become less stressed. Do this everyday for about a week and it should help. If not, contact me.
