Is cutting really that bad? I've only done it twice, but it was the only way I could snap back into reality. I tried running and lifting and all sorts of other crap, but nothing worked. For me it's just a reality check.

Cutting is bad. Half the people in Mental Hospitals cut. And if it's deep enough, it'll stay for a VERY long time,

Yes, it's really bad.  There are many additional alternatives to make you feel better about something.  Even if you were just cutting to make yourself feel better and not actually to kill yourself, what if they blade slipped or something?  You never know what can happen and you run that risk every time you cut.

depends on what your perspective is, i would never do it.

It's not bad .... it's just unhealthy and gross.

-- Posted by anc8469 at 8:00 am on June 26, 2008

Yea I use to do that, still do sometimes, but yea its bad. Ppl who have emotional problems and holding all of those in isn't healthy.

Yes it is bad, it leaves a mark on your life.

You can't take your actions back, you have to live with it for their on after, even if it does snap you back in to reality.

it's socially unacceptable and a general taboo.

-- Posted by XxAnNeXx237 at 8:22 am on June 26, 2008

no. I don't see anything wrong with it.

Well, there are some obvious reasons for why it's bad. You could get an infection, if there is rust on the blade you could get some disease or illness, or you could slip up and bleed to death. Then there are other reasons. You might become slightly paranoid about someone seeing your cuts or something, and it might actually make you more depressed. There is a risk of someone you don't like finding out and making fun of you for a long time as well.  And I'm sure years from now you will realize it was a stupid decision you made and you will be embarrassed by it.

Of course it's wrong/bad. But it isn't the worst thing out there. Cutting is just a really unhealthy way of dealing with your negative emotions.

You said that you only did it twice, which is great! You want to try and make sure you don't do it again though, or this escape will rapidly become an addiction that you won't be able to get away from.

You really need to find someone that you can talk to and vent. It's extremely important that you are able to get your emotions out there. If you don't have anyone in your real life to talk to, you can message me if you'd like. I know what it is that you are going through.

Also, you are going to need to find a good coping method that works for you. I don't know you personally, so I would only be able to bounce ideas out there. For me, writing down my emotions helps. You could also listen to music, drawing, sleeping, talking, the old rubber band trick, sometimes drawing on yourself with a red marker works, keeping a journal, etc. There are a million things that can be done. You just have to see which thing is right for you.

Good luck Hun, and remember to message me any time. :)

At first I did it to 'wake me up' I guess..I was feeling empty, and I needed the pain to feel again. To make me feel alive. Then I became addicted, and then I did it for other reasons..
But I don't see it as a bad thing, it's a way for coping.
