Ok I was thinking about buying a beat up older civic for cheap then buying a v-tec engine and dropping it in. But where would I get a v-tec engine at?

Why would this be  stupid idea? To buy a car at adealership I am looking at 14 grand. I can buy a car and engine and be out under 10 grand.

You could get a mid-90's civic and a v-tek for under 5 grand if you shop smart.

yea you spend 10 grand but you still have a 5 thousand dollar car....

Plus, it will still be slow even with a engine swap. And you sound like a dumbass so i doubt you will be doing it yourself... expect to pay ATLEAST 1K in labor for the swap.

Ya but if build it myself i am talking about a car with zero miles on the transmission or the engine. not to bad of a deal to me. Maybe I am just seeing it wrong.

Okay I'm glad someone else is agreeing with me because I thought I was missing something.

OP: It is a completely STUPID idea to buy a NEW car and swap a POS engine into it. Don't waste your money.

I'm LOLing at this person thinking a v-tec engine is something incredibly great.

-- Posted by Holden Commodore at 10:52 am on June 27, 2008

it's not v-tec or v-tech, it's VTEC.

...Really, wat new honda can u get 4 under 15k with 0 miles on it. .

As said before try a scrap yard. Or better yet an owners club.

-- Posted by ss454 at 2:49 pm on June 27, 2008

If you get teh vtec, make sure to get a fart can muffler and a park bench sized wing.  You'll be ultra cool

-- Posted by ss454 at 2:58 pm on June 27, 2008

Also, make sure the muffler is relatively this size, for a bold tone that all morons are bound to love.

Technically, the Honda Civic Coupe starts at $14,8101. That's according to their website/MSRP.

Possibly the new NSX is alright, however the old was over priced for lack luster performance

-- Posted by Tursi Askari at 10:46 pm on June 30, 2008

I think you will find a vtec engine wont bolt into a non-vtec engine bay. Engine mounts and gearbox mounts are different.

Its handling was a class above most though and was fast for the amount of power it had.
