So I cut. I have been for the pass 5 years. I go through episodes where I do it everyday and then I stop for up to 3 months at a time.

My friends are getting really worried. I've been doing it about twice a week since April. They've tried to get me to quit. They try to spend as much time as they can with me so I'm not alone. And since its summer, they stay at my house a lot or invite me over.

My parents don't know, and my friends are threatening to tell, if I don't quit. I understand that they feel this is necessary, but I'm trying hard to quit. I just don't know how.

I was thinking of showing my mom the cuts, but she would blow it way out of proportion. Do you have any ideas?

i used to cut, and i know this sounds horrible but it took me almost dying of an overdose of sleeping pills to make me stop.
i was angry the day after, but since then i havent taken any medication, even for headaches, except one motion sickness pill.

it's been about two months and im happy.
also, i exercise alot to get out stress.
try that, it actually is more satisfying than cutting.
try kickboxing or running really hard, really long.

hey , i have been through similar experiences as yours and it is not a nice experience , however your friends making you stop is NOT a good thing! self harm is not something you can quit overnight! you need profetional help! go see your GP or something? they could sort you out with counceling?

PM me if you need to talk i am allways ready to listen x

I think the best thing to do would be to present it to her calmly, tell her you've been going through a hard time, tell her about it, tell her you've been hurting yourself, just show her the cuts and ask for help. If you go on teengrowth.com you might find some help

Nothing is worth hurting yourself.  There is always someone to talk to.  You are NOT alone.  Lift your head up.... it's a new day.

Personally, I would explain to the friends that them telling someone without your consent would actually make your life significantly more difficult, despite what they think. Also, I personally would not show a parent, as once they know the fact never, ever goes away and you may prefer that they don't know so you have a 'normal' situation to come home to when you need it.
