lol, the guy even admits that it would only save 2% of highway fuel usage, but tries to paint '167 thousand barrels' as a lot, which is apparently worth restricting peoples driving habits artificially whilst creating more aggressive driving. then they come up and state that the 55 mph limit saved thousands of lives a year, which is nonsense considering only a few percent of accidents are on the highway at all.

then learn to drive it

Didn't they try that once already?
And didn't it fail miserably?
-- Posted by NEGATIVE0 at 7:25 am on July 4, 2008

The state speed limit in NY is 55. I saw it's about the same in other states. On the highway to travel down the east coast of america it was about 70 miles per hour.
-- Posted by iconoclast at 7:27 am on July 4, 2008
its still really 55 mph in NY even on the interstate?
-- Posted by dragonking at 7:31 am on July 4, 2008
I don't remember what the interstate is. I know on all highways it's 55 and I have seen 50 some places too.
-- Posted by Wakeupcall at 7:33 am on July 4, 2008
30 in housey places. 40 in less housey places. 50 in some places. 70 on the motorway.
-- Posted by SovSull at 7:41 am on July 4, 2008
that video is the way all legal proceedings should be
and yeah that nationwide speed limit is bullshit
-- Posted by iconoclast at 7:45 am on July 4, 2008
fuck bureaucracy and boredom
-- Posted by SovSull at 7:46 am on July 4, 2008
in a perfect world it would be like idiocracy except with guitars and rock out contests
-- Posted by iconoclast at 7:47 am on July 4, 2008
then i could rule the world
-- Posted by im rockin the etnies at 7:49 am on July 4, 2008
it's impossible to drive 55 mph hour on the highway. only cuz it's 65 here and that's just bullshit.
what the hell else can they think of?! picking out my damn clothes for school then?!?!?! huh!? lol

It would help the gas problem.
-- Posted by iconoclast at 7:52 am on July 4, 2008
the point was that it would do barely anything while restricting liberty
-- Posted by iconoclast at 7:52 am on July 4, 2008
if you want to save gas have incentives to market electric cars, bigger ones i mean
mass marketing of these would do far more than even a 20% savings in gas, and this is less than 10% of that
-- Posted by Yummie Strawberries at 7:54 am on July 4, 2008
I can't drive 55 either. Fuck that.
Man, I always get stuck behind the asshole that refuses to go over 50 on the highway. The best is when I pass him and then get cut off by another asshole who refuses to go over 50.
-- Posted by iconoclast at 7:55 am on July 4, 2008
LOL
around here if I drive 70 on the interstate I get passed by literally everyone
its funny though, whenever there is a bunch of accidents because of aggressive driving they lower the speed limit instead of raising it, raising it would help more because with the limit too low some people are slowing everyone else down
-- Posted by iconoclast at 7:56 am on July 4, 2008
so i cant wait until you get more people going like 60 in the left lane and get nearly run off the road
-- Posted by fenrir at 8:05 am on July 4, 2008
I like TX speeds. 70 and 65.
-- Posted by iconoclast at 8:06 am on July 4, 2008
they have 80 too somewhere
-- Posted by Mieux at 4:35 pm on July 4, 2008
I wouldn't mind.
45 - 55 is a comfortable speed for me. I try to avoid going on the highway if possible. I saw an accident happen with my own eyes. It wasn't pretty.
-- Posted by Crippling Velocity at 6:26 pm on July 4, 2008
what about blowing up all the cars that are less than 24 miles to a gallon, eh
