Why is this so amazingly funny? So the update isn't perfect, and fucked up some PS3's. Shit like this happens. Red Ring of Death anyone?

code of death
-- Posted by LudovicoTechnique at 2:34 pm on July 4, 2008
I think it bricked maybe 3% of the PS3s that d/led it. Compare that to the steady 33% failure rate of Xbox 360s that hasn't dropped since launch.

OMFG?! I had to restart GTA two or three times?! AWFULZ0R! Technology just fails sometimes. It's not an XBox thing, it's not a Playstation thing, it's a LIFE thing.

no shit. I'm just tired of the rrod quote from ps3 fans and xbo haters when the ps3 has a simmiler problem. and GTa affected both colsoles.

You're right, the RRoD shouldn't be brought up, unless of course a PS3 hater is bring up the 2.40 glitch as worse than said RRoD, which it isn't.

so you agree when i say. All consoles have problems, don't judge them because of those problems
-- Posted by Link01 at 8:22 am on July 5, 2008
that why i wait few days before i download the firmware so i can know what it does and any faults in it
-- Posted by Ju5tin at 2:49 pm on July 5, 2008
Whoa, that sucks. Looks like the PS3 wasn't the problem-free console everyone thought it was, yes?

Who thought that? Also I fail to see how a fucked up update has any bearing on the ps3 being a problem-free console, but that's just me. 360 updates have bricked systems as well.
-- Posted by Ju5tin at 4:31 pm on July 5, 2008
I don't know, just some rabid fanboys who think the PS3 is the greatest console ever. Some of them just think that because their console doesn't get the RRoD or it doesn't overheat or whatever makes it 100% bug-free. >_<
-- Posted by theAnomie at 12:16 am on July 6, 2008
That's unlucky, the definitive update destroying systems.
-- Posted by imakethetest66 at 4:09 am on July 7, 2008
I got the update and it's still working perfect. I love in-game xmb. :)
-- Posted by theAnomie at 5:16 am on July 7, 2008
I'm borrowing my friend's PS3 to play MGS4, saves me spending about £400. I can't believe you actually have to leave games to send messages. Shame he handed it to me a little too late to get the xmb for his console.

It's not too late. The updat was just taken down temporary. A lot of people still have the update that was taken down, which is working, but some people couldn't download it, so they took it down...and so on. I just repeated myself like 3 times, but I'm too tired to give a fuck.

I know what you mean. I just completed MGS4 so I'm gonna hand the PS3 back to him tomorrow, he doesn't have the internet.

Firmware 2.41 is out. Fixes the issues. Oh, and, 'Ring of Death'. And, gimmick. Stop hyping.
-- Posted by Daveh at 5:41 pm on July 8, 2008
I had no problems downloading or installing it. in fact. I've had no problems with the firmware update at all. I did however download yet another firmware update the very next day. 2.41. i assume they fixed it with that. but, i wouldn't kow.

The "Code of death" is much rarer than the "Red ring of death". and i think it only exist on the orginal 80gig PS3 models.

we don't hear about it, as sony delites topic about it in it own forum the only reason rrod sems like a problem is because of the internet. microsoft have also fixed the problem. the code of death is when the lens burns. so it's on all ps3
