VW are set to release a limited run of VWs named as the 1 litre, it has a 1 litre, 1 cylinder turbo diesel with a tiny 8.5hp and 13.5lbft but this is okay because the entire car weights 600pounds, made completely of magnesium and carbon fibre, the entire front axle and suspension has only a combined weight of 18 pounds, sure these materials are costly but VW predicts that within 4 years the cars build costs will decrease by 300% and VW plans to make it fully Mainstream by 2012, more on the article here. http://blog.wired.com/cars/2008/07/laugh-at-high-g.html

If you happen to be in a car crash, you are basically driving in your coffin.

It would need a draft in order to maintain it.

Sad but true. Also, it seems VW is too ashamed to show any engine pictures in that article.

I would rather take the 29 MPG of my Highlander than that small death trap. I wonder what the top speed on it is? God our pool and hot tub pump's have more power than this thing.
-- Posted by Killer Tofu at 11:22 pm on July 6, 2008
I'd rock that.

I think an Asian grandmother on a scooter could beat it in a race.

They already have something like that out, because I saw one at my church. I think it held two people though, but it was still pretty small. It looked something like this, but a little different: http://cache.jalopnik.com/assets/resources/2006/12/toppo.jpg PS My favorite picture of that new car is the one on the interstate. lmao
