The timings are 55512 for the 2GB that I have already and its in duel channel. The 4GB that I want to buy timing 55518 at 800MHZ. I'm curious if the timings will affect the performance alot? I do have windows xp 32bit os but I will use the extra 4GB as swap space. I'm thinking of getting just another 2GB with the same timings as the other 2GB. Then I'll use 3GB for ram and 1GB for swap. It won't be a waste of ram because I will be running a 64bit version of linux on the computer and I'll still use ram as swap when I get it on there. -- Posted by drifting at 5:44 pm on July 7, 2008 It will be a waste on a 32bit OS, and unless you are having problems running your 64bit linux, then dont bother. I run 4gb, and the only OS Im glad I have it for is Vista. I could never see a difference in XP (outside of Crysis), and I DEFINITELY havent seen a difference in Kubuntu. -- Posted by jamescoleman at 7:15 pm on July 7, 2008 I know it'll be a waste on a 32bit thats why I'ma use the extra space for swap because I use my system alot and its always on. You may lose .1 second off super pi 1m but that's about it. Hell i even but that the 44418 ram could run at 44412 without a problem. I don't feel like OCing my pc because its too much trouble to trouble shoot a custom pc even though its fun.
