My proms tomorrow & I've just come on..whats worse is that I have a really heavy flow considering I'm quite a thin person and I'll have to wear a tampon and maxi pad in my tight fitting dress urgh! My periods are oftenly very painful and I don't want it to ruin my prom, I take pills (ibuprofen) that apparently help but they don't and I'm really anxious about spilling especially on my dress! I've already got 50 other things to worry about so any help or advice I would really appreciate! I also need two pairs of underwear to secure the mass of destruction going on below so it's going to look quite obvious in my dress..but ohwell, I'm just going on now! Thanks x

2 pairs of knickers? gosh, I'm so lucky. My period lasts 3 days and it's reallyyy light. i guess.. just make sure you bring plenty of spare tampons? and change it regularly so it doesn't get on your dress?

god that sounds extreme. just keep checking and changing it so that you don't leak and take some tablets before you go. if you're dancing the exercise is actually meant to help the pain.

I had the same problem, except it was at homecoming. Bring a couple of tampons and what not in a purse, change them throughout the night. Make a secret exit, it will be so crowded no one will notice you leave to the bathroom, as for the fact that you will shoe that your wearing more then one pair of underwear, I can't really help you there. Good luck.

Well, first off it's not surprising you're having your period now as stress can start your period early. Second, try going to your local drugstore (I think Walgreens carries them but you can check the website) and buying Instead softcups. They literally act as cups and catch your flow. You can even have sex wearing them but I wouldn't advice it with a heavy flow. And last, I would talk to your doctor sometime soon about endometriosis as painful periods are a symptom. While you're there, think about birth control as that can sometimes lighten your flow. Ask about a monohormonal pill so that you can actually avoid having a period and "skip" it ever so often.

The Instead Soft Cups aren't always a sure fire thing though. I use them more for light flow days because they have a tendency to leak. I'd honestly say just keep checking and changing. All the girls you hang out with that night will understand. And if a guy asks, you drank a lot of water before hand
