Then you can scroll down to Windows XP and select the update that you wish to uninstall. I've never had this problem but this was my thought too. When you drag your mouse to the bottom, does it appear? Try right-clicking the bottom-center of your screen (assuming that's where you had it placed), uncheckking "Lock Taskbar", and dragging it up. Also, marshmellowman's instructions do not reformat the computer, they just uninstall a single update of your choice.  It's not extreme :)
