....but whatever.  Wouldn't you think that running in place is basically the same thing as running?  It would appear that you'd burn the same amount of calories...

-- Posted by jennay at 11:29 pm on July 10, 2008

no, because youre not using the energy to push forward

-- Posted by mucheerchick30 at 11:29 pm on July 10, 2008

i think it takes a wee bit more to push off of your feet then just bouncing up and down on them really. maybe i am wrong though.

nope.

Not really.. you're only like, hopping around in the air. Not pushing off of anything with all of your weight at any type of speed.

only if you ran on a flat surface. running up and down hills would burn more calories than running in place.

Yea but I like scenery
Same thing with a treadmill
I'd rather go outside and see thing and get distance so I feel like I'm  being productive

Exactly.

you need that push... its like the difference between running on flat ground and running uphill

-- Posted by penguinsrule at 11:31 pm on July 10, 2008

you would think, but there is actually a huge difference

Well quoted from the prestigious Dr. Schweblender "Running in place burns more calories and is a better workout, Bitches"
