I am thinking about buying a smart phone from ebay and i have a couple questions about them. I have verizon, so once i get the phone do i just bring it to a verizon store to have them connect my number to the new phone? Also, i was looking at the palm 700's and the AUDIOVOX XV6700, can either of these phones go online through wifi because i have a wireless router at my house. Will i have to buy a data plan for these phones to go online and search things, because i dont want to get a huge phone bill because i had no plan to go on the internet? Thanks

The Treo 700w doesn't have wifi built in, it is supported through an SD card however. The Audiovox does feature built in WiFi.

For phones like these unless you use WiFi you will have to pay for data usage, so getting a data plan is very important.

For the Audiovox can you select if you want to use the internet through wifi or connect through verizon network, because i dont want to be at my house able to use wifi but have it select the verizon network.

1) If you buy the phone from Ebay make sure it has a compatible spectrum for Verizon, if it is not a Verizon branded phone.

2) If not a verizon branded phone, you're going to need to call the carrier who previously serviced it and ask for the unlock code for the phone. And this is only if compatitble.

3) If not a verizon branded phone, after getting the unlock code for the device just simple put your Sim card in the phone and it will be operated under your phone number.

4) Yes, you will need a data plan if you want to go on the Internet unless you're going to pay for pay per a use which you will get charged out of this world.

If it finds a WiFi connection it will more than likely ask you to connect to it and then if it sees it again it will autoconnect. I'm pretty sure that once you're connected to the WiFi it will use that rather than the CDMA connection.

With most phones you should be able to select wifi to connect to the Internet, and turn off Verizon. You will have to go into your settings, in which each phone is different. Some even have the option on. "Automatically connect to wifi server."

Verizon use the CDMA network and don't operate with SIM cards (GSM networks use that). Verizon offer both of these phones so even if bought on eBay they'll probably be able to connect it.

I am connected with two other people to a plan, so is there a way that i can get a data plan for just my phone. So when the bill comes under my phone it will be a little more expensive because only i have the plan?

You'll have to ring up Verizon and ask them, or go into a Verizon store and explain to them the situation. They might not be able to do it though, because usually shared plans require the same exact plan on both phones. But like I said ask them, we're not Verizon representatives here.

The data plan will only be on your phone. Carriers don't really offer unlimited Data for the whole family.
