Hello my friend needs a new router and I'm unsure what to tell him what is good to buy. I'll give 50 points to the person that can find me a router that is:

*Wireless N
*Good in reviews
*Good range
*Not Netgear or Belkin

(The person doesn't want these two brands)

It will need to be fast because the person does some gaming like Halo 3.

Thanks,
Daniel

You can game Halo 3 with a 802.11b router if you wanted to, the WiFi is not going to be the bottlecap here, it will be the speed of the Internet connection which is probably <11Mbit and nearly 100% likely to be <54Mbit.

That aside, Linksys make some great routers. I'd recommend the Linksys WRT300N series. Highly customisable (with DD-WRT) and it's very reliable.

Linksys is the main one I've heard other than Belkin.

Linksys: Wireless-G Broadband Router The All-In-One Wireless-G Networking Solution

According to Amazon.com, it has an average of 4.5 stars out of 5 (314 reviews).

After viewing the description and everything myself, it looks like it would be rather nice equipment to have for your wireless internet and considering who makes it, is of great quality and service as well.

Most businesses use Linksys due to the reliability of the equipment and such. For awhile, due to one of my previous jobs (I was a student admin when I was a senior in HS), this was the only wireless equipment I dealt with. And since my mom has bought a wireless router (a Belkin), I still think Linksys was the most reliable and so forth. Belkin is nice, but sometimes my internet is down for some reason and I or one my brothers have to play around with it to get it going again. With Linksys, I don't even remember touching it for the whole year I dealt with it.

Hope your friend finds what he wants.
