Make eye contact.
Be polite, but also try to be yourself and show that you have a personality. It shows that you can really add something special to the workplace.
If you need a couple seconds to gather your thoughts, take those seconds. I know you probably don't want to make the person wait. BUT really, you'd rather have a high quality answer than a fast one.
Avoid um as much as possible.
