At that time I just though, "Pfft, QBasic? Isn't that for like 8 year olds?" I already have moderate knowledge of HTML, JS, and Lua and I've been really itching for programming classes at my school. You are much better off going with something more modern and class based and scripted. So Java, C++ or C# are all good picks.
