I heard Windows Vista is worse than XP... how is it worse? is it not fast?

-- Posted by Cunning Stunt at 9:58 am on July 19, 2008

It's a system hog and generally doesn't handle anything efficiently.

-- Posted by Darkane at 9:59 am on July 19, 2008

It had a really shit start because it was released unfinished.
But by all means it's a decent OS, you just need a decent pc to take advantage of it.

-- Posted by Benzo at 9:59 am on July 19, 2008

Vista...oh god...Son of a bitch OS eats up resources like its in a third world country.

-- Posted by asianguy at 9:59 am on July 19, 2008

If your computer has enough power to run vista, its better,
otherwise stick with xp cuz there's too many problems u will run into
3GB of ram MIN
Dual Core No Exception
Graphics card more than 256mb
Bootup Times Really fast on my pc, never had a single problem :]

-- Posted by Maxxie at 9:59 am on July 19, 2008

It's slower and crappier essentially it's the windows XP except crappier it eats so fucking much powers from a computer

-- Posted by freak15 at 9:59 am on July 19, 2008

it is a slut.

A lot of people love to hate Vista.

If youy computer is good.. Vista will be fine.
I prefer it over XP to be honest. It took a bit of getting used to and the 'security popup's' aren't nearly as annoying, or frequent as everyone says.

Lots of glitches. My friends tell me it crashes their computer. Basically its just loaded down with needless junk to make it look cool and it fucks up the performance.

My comp can handle Vista but I prefer XP anyway. I dont need all that extra crap

-- Posted by Avenue D at 10:01 am on July 19, 2008

I goddamn hate the Jesus-shitting Windows Vista with every fiber of my being.  I ordered recently an XP and they sent me a crappy Vista that works like shit and looks worse.  Oh yeah, and hardly any older games not made by Microsoft (and possibly Electronic Arts) don't work: Sierra Core, FFVII, FFVIII, Blitzkrieg, C&C: Red Alert, and several others.

-- Posted by x508xmayzx at 10:02 am on July 19, 2008

it takes up almost 1 gb of space if you dont delete certain things. so it is slower and wastes cpu space

-- Posted by jayney16 at 10:02 am on July 19, 2008

1.  It goes slow

2.  Can not handle large files

3.  Generally crap

lol! To give you a idea why the problem is happening, in car terms

a Chevy Tahoe Suv with a 1.0 Liter Engine :]
It's pretty fast... not really!

-- Posted by Frubeling at 10:10 am on July 19, 2008

There's no point in getting it unless you have dual or quad core, it takes up almost an entire processor.

-- Posted by dolce e gabbana at 10:11 am on July 19, 2008

I'm not having any problems

-- Posted by FurryPanther at 10:25 am on July 19, 2008

The biggest issue is that it's a resource hog. An OS is supposed to be a common ground for programs to launch off of, not every program you can think of in and of itself. It has too many required features that do nothing but slow down the computer.

Then there is the fact that it was programmed in a way that there was very little communication between departments, so there are a lot of things that don't match up, making glitches.

It's just a bad OS all around. I can only hope that Windows 7 is an improvement.

The only thing going for it is that it's visually impressive.

Dude, the fact that you say that, and support oboma, shows that you need to be summarily liquidated.

As per usual i read all of these "Vista is crap, stick with XP" posts and I'm wondering if I'm using the same version as you lot. I have no issues with Vista. It is stable, fast to use, has many many more features including a nice little set of apps that comes with it, the interface is considerably better, its quicker, cleaner, prettier and has so many more features and parts you can customize.

In short, no, Vista is not worse, as long as you don't go for the basic versions. Go for a PC that comes with it installed and you will be fine. Don't upgrade as thats a bad plan.

The fact that you say that shows how much of a fascist you are.

Yep. Worse. Just as others said, its slower than XP when its operating on an average computer and can't handle anything efficiently. My brand new Dell came with Vista and it operated poorly even when nothing was on it. My programs and software kept closing on their own. I don't use that PC anymore. I use my MacBook.

-- Posted by Zlog at 3:17 am on Aug. 23, 2008

wow nothing but fucking idiots in this thread.

If your computer doesn't meet the reccomended requirements, then you shouldn't intall vista on it. If you HAVE the reccomended requirements, Vista is amazing.

Vista will actually play games better then XP if you have a decent system. Vista manages resources MUCH better then XP if you have the reccomended amount.

Threads full of people making comments about vista that dont know what they're talking about make me RAAAGEEE

Your mistake was buying one of Dell Super Duper Discount computers. Do some research next time.

I hate Vista. That's just my opinion. :(.
I have a Macbook, and there's just no issues with it.

My parents did buy one of those "Dell Super Duper Discount" computers for themselves, but I think if they're selling a computer that has it installed, it should be able to handle it well. It was a dual core processor. It crashed so many times, we finally bought a copy of Windows XP and downgraded the computer, which is just sad.

-- Posted by climber783 at 1:14 pm on Sep. 10, 2008

Vista's great if you have a high-end computer that can handle it's extensive download size, extensive resource use, and all that.

But on my bottom to mid range laptop, it was a nightmare.  Slow as hell, crashed constantly, countless useless programs that were tricky to remove completely...it just wasn't worth it.  Quickly gave up on Vista, put on Linux Mint, and was perfectly happy with it.  And soon after made it a dual boot with Windows XP on it, and it is a perfect laptop.

Depends on how much ram you have. If you're trying to run it on 512MB or 1 gig you'll have problems 2 gigs will run it well, 3 and 4 smooth as better.
