I've been dating this girl for about a year and a half, we aren't boyfriend and girlfriend, and mainly that is because I told her I'm just not ready to be tied down. At least, not in that sense. =D

We've been through a lot together, as much as a year + can throw at any two people. I had been contemplating asking her if she wanted to be exclusive. But I just hit a major road block.

She just had the worst week of her life. On sunday her grandfather died. On monday her cat of 12 years died. and on tuesday her mother was diagnosed with cancer. Needless to say shes an emotional wreck right now.

So I've decided to put the question off until she's feeling more stable. I just don't know, it is really difficult to see her go through this. I just don't want her to take my advance as a form of sympathy.

...Any thoughts?

Just hold her hand for now! She will appreciate that!

Just wait it out as she is totally emotional here.

I think that was a good idea for you to wait to ask.

Just be there for her, and let her know that you're willing to listen if she wants to talk about it.

Wait it out, but be there for her. If she needs someone to talk to, let her talk. If she needs a shoulder to cry on, be that shoulder. Not only does that show that you are a nice guy, but that shows that you care about her a lot to be there. Assure her that everything is going to be okay and maybe take her out to do something to get her mind off of things for a little while. Good luck.

yeah. just be there for her.
let her lean on you... and wait to ask her about being exclusive until her life has calmed down. everything's really up in the air right now.
just let her know that you're there for her if she needs you...
she'll be really appreciative...
and when things calm down, and you get around to asking her, she'll be more inclined to say yes because she'll know how much you really do care about her...

I think it is definitly a good idea to wait until things lighten up before asking her. For now just be there for her, let her know how much you care. If she wants to talk then be there to listen, guve her a shoulder to cry on she just needs to know your there for support.
