Regardless of who pays for insurance, they still have financial liability. Would you?  I mean, why would you pay $100's a month for something just so someone else gets to use it.  I wouldn't.. that's just a bad investment, don't you think? If I were you, I'd talk some sense into your parents and tell them to get rid of the money drain.  Tell them to use that money to have a nice dinner out once a month or so.  Now THAT would be fair.
