i've been cut-free for almost 16 months, but lately, I've been constantly tempted to cut and it's getting stronger and stronger. i need some major encouragement. i've been so depressed. i'm a christian, so if you're one, that'd help, but if you're not, you can still encourage me. Monica <3

I've had the same problem for the past three years...was a christian for one of the years, actually. Running usually helps me when I hear/see a trigger. Something aggressive that wears me down but doesn't actually do any harm. The endorphins afterwards help as well.

Don't do it. I mean inflicting pain on yourself isn't going to solve problems. You are only training yourself to feel more pain when you are in mental pain. You want to train yourself to be calm when you feel like doing it. Try breathing deeply and counting from 10 if you really feel like doing it.

Well, I'm not a Christian, but I do believe in God, so I think I can give you some advice. I myself have never had this problem of self-harm, but I have had suicidal thoughts before and I'm sure there's a similarity between the two. I know sometimes things get to us. Sometimes we can't stop the depressing stuff from coming, and here's what you can do: 1)You can solve the problem. If it is within your power to solve the problem that is annoying and depressing you, then the best way to solve it, is to confront it. That's all there's to it. You just have to take it as it comes and deal with it. You can't keep on putting it off and never dealing with it, because that's not right. Deal with it as it comes, and just remember that God is there to help you along the way. Remember that you're not alone and that God sent you here and that he will always be with you, no matter how difficult times may seem. He won't give you something you can't deal with. 2)There are some things that are not within our reach. Like a change on someone else's life who is close to us. A friend a family member someone like that. We can only give advice, but in the end they're the ones who have to choose. Something else is the death of u someone we love. All these problems are out of our reach, so the only thing we can do is pray and don't worry about them because you know you have done everything you can to deal with your problems DO NOT CUT!! I promise you it will not help you. It will only make you feel more pain so don't do it. Respect your body, and don't harm it. It's yours so take care of it. Do you think God would ever have wanted you to cut? Think about that. Think that he loves you and that he doesn't want you to harm yourself. If you feel weak pray and ask God for strength, you can get through all this without cutting!! God is always there when you need him!!
