Some girls seem to think that a 12-year old's body is the ideal female body: no fat and no curves. But the only guys who are into that kind of female body are the gay Italian designers who run the fashion magazines! Why the hell should any woman listen to what gay men tell them to do, especially if they're doing so in hopes of alluring straight men?!

There's a difference between being skinny and being fit. Most guys prefer the latter. While guys want their girls to have a flat and toned stomach (ideally), they also want, to put it roughly, tits and ass. Nobody I know thinks that Gwyneth Paltrow is hotter than Jessica Alba or Scarlett Johansson. NOBODY. So stop trying to be thin as a rail with the body of a prepubescent boy.

Well, they're not all "gay Italian men," but this isn't anything new. It's getting worse though.

It's not really my choice. My body refuses to grow anymore despite how much I eat or workout. <_<

Then why don't we see fat people trying to compete and become the fattest person amongst their friends? Girls aren't just arbitrarily trying to be dangerously thin, even if they're not directly doing it to attract men.

Seriously I hate when people go on this rant, to assume that people who desire thinness are simply vain is extremely ignorant.

Actually there are a few.

Anyways most girls today ARE chubby, and a little weight loss will do them some good. If you're talking about anorexics, they usually have deeper psychological problems then just wanting to look good.

I don't try. I'm just naturally underweight for my height.
'Way' underweight.

But, my boyfriend thinks I am drop dead sexy. And I get more than enough compliments to keep me happy. From men and women.
So, please, refrain from trying to speak for your entire sex.

Screw men. I don't give a fuck about their opinion. Only mine matters.
I wish I had Nicole Richie's bones. I will, one day.

Seriously I hate when people go on this rant, to assume that people who desire thinness are simply vain is extremely ignorant.

Use working out for guys as an analogy. A lot of guys work out to "boost self-confidence", as opposed to just plain looking good for girls. But implicit in this assumption is the belief that being muscle-bound is unquestioningly positive, and also assumed is the belief that muscles=masculinity=getting girls.

So girls who starve themselves may not be doing it directly to please men, but their underlying assumption is that thinner=better, and part of what makes it better is that they think guys prefer 75-pound girls.

No, they are not delusional and do not think that guys prefer 75-pound girls. Sometimes they starve themselves to test their strength, because they see eating as a sign of weakness, to rid themselves of sin and wrongness, to punish themselves, or because they've simply developed an obsessive-compulsive fear of food. You really have no idea what you're talking about.

why should i listen to you? and what makes you think I'm losing weight to attract a guy?

-- Posted by Johvanni at 1:27 am on July 28, 2008

No i agree with thread starter.I see females that are masses of bones walking on a stick and still say they are fat.Just gross..Really its all about being fit...

"theres a difference between being skinny and fit"

THANK YOU!!!! i ALWAYS try to tell people that i'm fit, not skinny. and when i do, they rudely roll their eyes at me and say "whatever, girl" you're skinny.

i'm a tiny person and i have muscle. meaning, if someone picked a fight with me, i wouldn't snap like a twig. cus i eat right and i often work out. but people who are bigger like to make themselves feel better by calling me skinny and ignoring my proclamation of being fit.

so annoying and so rude

It's disgusting, when one goes into the Junior Department, and sees the size of the clothes there. They look like they're meant for toddlers/infants. There is NO Junior Adult that could fit into those clothes without looking disgusting and lumpy. I'm only a size 12, which is your average size for my height/age, and I'm only 20 years old, but I feel fat when I walk into that section. I'm sorry, but NO teenager could fit into that type of sized clothing.*cringe*

Yes, a test of strength BASED ON WHAT THEY PERCEIVE TO BE SOCIETY AND MEN'S PREFERENCE.

You don't see as many girls "testing their strength" by trying to be the fattest, or the most muscular, or the highest-earning. Coincidence? Nope.

I don't think this is as big a deal as the media makes out. More people are obese than anorexic, the real problem is people who are dangerously over weight. And there is so much emphasis put on "being curvy" nowadays that the effect is almost being revered, I am naturally slim and a healthy weight but sometimes I wish I was a bit bigger because of how people keep going on about how curvy is better.

I think that is wrong too. As long as you are healthy, it shouldn't matter what shape you have, small or big.
