(i.e. no blue bars on the top right of the screen indicating signal strength.) If you see two computers at the top right with a red x between them, click the computers and see if you can't choose a wireless network. If there's no option to you'll have to work on installing the drivers.  First you'll have to know which wireless card you have. If you go to Applications>Accessories>Terminal and type: lspci You'll get a list of pci devices connected to your laptop. The wireless card should be listed in there.
