I have vista and it works fine. I wonder why people complain about it so much. I think if you upgrade it, it doesn't work that well

Vista may be the newest software microsoft has come out with but is more antiquated that windows 95 i had vista until it bummed out on me twice so i went back to XP the vista i had was home premium and it added an install from microsoft and gave me 1600+ viruses so i spent 6 hours getting rid of them i got it to 800 and then i said screw it and went back to XP and have yet to get a virus in 2 months

(   They complain b/c Vista sucks.  :)    )

If it is doing that after the comp is on for a while it may be overheating...

Otherwise update all your drivers and then check back tomorrow.... ;)

Quick question... Is your computer overclocked?

I only ask because that is the most likely cause if it is. If not I recommend running the startup repair and waiting a long while. It can take several hours, so perhaps you are not waiting long enough.

Then it's likely a problem either you have caused or hardware related. As obviously your computer is running on new hardware. Have you tried rolling back your system using the built in restore?
