I was once A+, Network+, and Security+ certified. Do I have to pay again to update these certifications or can I get some special CompTIA discount. I know when I got my MSCE from 2000 to 2003 I got to take the test for free.

When I was getting out of high school I wanted to pursue Network Administration, but I strayed off that path and I am now a Web Developer. I still like to have these certifications under my belt so I can appear as a "jack of all trades". I even have my Novell CNA :P.

Comptia certs are lifetime but if you would like you can retake the test over or you can study the stuff for the new test objectives. hit up techexams.net

They aren't lifetime, the information after you pass even says so :P. Like the A+ cert, technology upgrades so fast previous tests become obsolete.

on the website i gave you a post says that they are lifetime and never needing to be renewed. another posts tells about their lifetime status. the information on the tests are good enough but once you have the comptia cert then its lifetime. just study the new material and you'll be good. you don't have to retest for comptia but if you go cisco route then you do have to retest every certain amount of years.
