Would there have been a huge difference if people hadn't gone in and upgraded all those computers?

Was Y2K a disaster narrowly avoided or a bunch of false propaganda?

Discuss.

Y2K was a bunch of scared idiots hiding in their basements

-- Posted by ReelStreetlights at 4:34 pm on Aug. 4, 2008

I don't think it would have made a difference.

I never understood why computers would go crazy just cause the year turned to 00

Y2K was meant to calm people down till 2012.  It will be like the boy who cried wolf.

The End of the Mayan Calendar hasn't happened.
So it can't be a statement without the words will be.

We had a 386 running Windows 3.1 here during the Y2k change, it blew up.  Was a very big deal.

What really happened with Y2K?

Nothing!

No chaos, no anarchy, no martial law, no riots... I was highly disappointed   Although I assumed nothing would've happend, anyone with a basic knowledge of how computers work knew there was nothing to worry about.

I'm just glad I didn't go out and stock up on bottled water and canned good like those other idiots
