I get to people and I cannot talk to them at all. I stay silent. It is making my life hell. I need help and it is making me so depressed.

You need to bring your confidence up a bit. Just start off by saying hi and try to work up saying more things with the more people you meet

That happens to a lot of people actually. Try to pick out what you're going to say first.

I am the same way. What helped me is, i sat down and made a list of questions i could ask people to start conversations. if your in a organization with someone ask about other interests, music, and such. shyness is really really hard to deal with and depressing, ive been feeling it all year. also compliments help people open up, and most people like hearing what you have to say

good luck!

Think about what you want to say beforehand because that will help to say it or something similar.  Take small steps to boost your confidence such as asking others questions about things (in school about some homework or something).  As time goes on talk more to them and them being fine with you will help boost your confidence and you can make some new friends too.

I have the exact same problem with round about anyone new I meet. Do you know what, it doesn't matter. It really doesn't! You will get through this at your own pace at there is absolutely no point in beating yourself up about it.

I have joined a group which specialises in helping teenagers to build confidence and learn to talk with a small group of people. Maybe you could give this a try! It is working for me and I haven't being cured but it has certainly given me a boost.

So I suggest talking to your family about the options you could take. Maybe a doctor for your depression. Getting to the bottom of your depression could definitely help the matter regarding your own self confidence.

I have used this one before but make a list of good things about yourself.

Do you have friends? It is easier to talk yo some people rather than others. How about building it up with your friends. Talking to them a bit more. Just a suggestion.

Whatever you do, good luck. Cyprus.

Try starting off with nonverbal communication... a smile, for example, or a wave. Then move on to "hi."

Take baby-steps. :)
Good luck!

Like the first replier said, you need to boost your self confidence. Maybe you should practice by talking to yourself in a mirror, I know it sounds crazy but its actually helped many people. Do you know whats making you feel this way? You should hang around more people you know. It'll make you open up a little more because you'll be around people, but the only difference is that you know them already. I would help a little bit. I just think you need to be around people and you'll be more open.

Here's a link to a How-To article on how to open up and male friends:

Good luck. :)

Talking to people, what sounds like a simple concept can actually be pretty hard sometimes. We all go through times of being uncomfortable talking, some are shy. Then again some of us are shyer than others. You need to take small little steps to achieve talking, for example start by just saying "Hello" to someone being friendly, then take it from there by asking "How are you?" Then the conversation will progress, I don't think you are a person that no one can talk to--you just need to stay positive and remember "I Can Do this"--start with little steps. Possibly hang around more people you know and share interests with because then it will make talking easier if you are both passionate about something. Right?

Good luck!

Hope this helps,
