I think I may have a social anxiety problem. I hate being in a large group of people. I hate going to school because of all the people that are there. Lunch is what I fear the most, i'm always afraid that i'm not going to find someone to sit with or i'm going to embarrass myself doing something. I mean i'm not retarded or anything I know that for a fact. For the last 4 years I was in and out of school because I was sick and havig surgeries so I havn't been able to socialize like I use to. Now I just wish I could be home schooled.

it's possible you're just not a big fan of crowds. personally, i can't stand being around huge groups of people for long periods of time and prefer more low key, relaxed settings. and since you've been in and out of school i think it's fairly normal you'd feel this way about not being in the social scene, so i'd give it some time before trying to diagnose yourself with a debilitating problem. i had similar thoughts a while back, but i made a greater effort to hang out with people whose company i enjoyed and things started to work out.

I know how you feel, I used to be more sociable but that was only with close friends. Ever since my best friend died, I don't talk to many people and only go out for certain occasions, like getting cigarettes and shit. A lot has to deal with the fact a lot of kids where I live are just fucking stupid.

I don't think it's too big of an issue. I hate being in jam-packed stores. Can't stand it. I absolutely cannot grocery shop when the store is totally full and everyone's slowly moving around like molasses. Yet I've performed in front of thousands of people and don't mind. It's funny how that works. The best thing that you can do is force yourself to be in these situations, rather than avoiding them. That's the only way that you'll get used to it.

Is it just recently that you've been confronted with your feelings at school? If it's only been a week, or a small period like that, you might get used to it after a while. If after a month, you feel that it's still really extreme, then perhaps you should think about transferring to smaller classes, talking to a counselor, thinking about transferring to a smaller school, and then homeschool.

Don't opt for homeschooling instead! I have social anxiety also, but I force myself to go to public school because I know if I'm homeschooled I'll just be a hermit for the rest of my life. We need to go out in the public if we want to function in normal society, even if we're not talking to anyone it's better than staying at home!
