It has more to do with how active and busy that youngster is. He has a digital camera and is fine with that. If their parents are divorced and they go on a trip by themselves on a plane and when they get back their parent is not at the gate...then yes. If they don't have any extracurricular activities at school and don't get out very often, probably they're too young.
