Plus they don't want to be responsible for your stuff if someone steals it. If you've signed a lease, for an entire year, then, no, you are not required to move out. They can't touch your room, for its under your name. I know at my school, if you live in the same place from August through May (we have 2 semesters) you don't move your stuff during Christmas break. I would talk to the RA about the procedures you do then.
