So, I wanted to talk about this because I had to write a paper about this not too long ago and this girl just brought it back up in my mind.

In order to fight the long lists to receiving an organ, people have gone to the black market.  There is a big controversy over this because the black market supports the highest bidder.  So what it basically means is who ever has the money, gets the lung, heart, liver, etc.  The rich live and the poor die.  And also to mention, the black market isn't guaranteed to give you a good organ.  It may appear good, but you never know.

So to the other option, is the donor's list for whatever organ you need. The problem with this is you'll most likely die waiting for the organ.  Its a sad reality.  And also to mention again, the organ may not even work once you get to the top of the list.

Family members can give organs to members of their family.  There wont be a waiting list.

I believe living and dead people give organs.  The dead having the majority.  So this is a good thing and should never end.  I even have on my driver's license to give my organs away when I die.  I don't think I'll be needing them.

So what are your opinions on this?  Do you have it to where your organs will be used once you die?  Should the black market be made legal?  Stay illegal?  What could be done about that long waiting list?

Theres really no way to ethically combat the shortage situation... Hopefully with developing technologies we will soon be able to construct man-made organs.  I don't see it as too far off, I mean it wouldn't be perfect, but enough to live I guess.  Otherwise, I dunno what stem-cell has planned... Or cloning.  Some guy grows ears on a mices backs so who knows...

As far as me, my organs will be donated if salvageable.
